Agricultural Recycling

It is our responsibility as manufacturers to minimize the impact of plastic waste on the environment. Netafim ReGen™ agricultural recycling is just one way that we're striving to make the planet just a little bit better by turning used driplines into new driplines!

The Industry's First Vertically Integrated Dripline Recycling Solution

Using drip tape for irrigation is reliable, easy, and convenient. With Netafim ReGen™ Recycling, getting rid of used irrigation tape in an environmentally responsible way is just as reliable, easy, and convenient as using it. We created a continuous loop where farmers could achieve years of performance from our drip lines and responsibly dispose of them when they reach the end of their life.

Our recycling and manufacturing operations not only lessen the impact that irrigation has on the planet, but they also create local jobs and boost our state economy. As a leader in irrigation technology, we are committed to reaching new goals and providing better options for our customers.

We are proud of protecting the environment through our recycling efforts while improving the quality of life for Californians.

Netafim Expands ReGen™ Recycling Operations Nationally

We’re strengthening our recycling efforts in California and expanding to Southeast Texas, with plans to roll out in several key U.S. markets in the future. Every year, Netafim collects, shreds, washes, and pelletizes thousands of tons of used irrigation tubing. Our proprietary process incorporates recycled content into new driplines without sacrificing performance and quality standards.

Netafim USA Awarded $2 Million By CalRecycle To Expand Recycling Operation

A $2.01 million grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) through the state’s Recycled Fiber, Plastic, and Glass Grant Program. One of five awarded grants, the $2.01 million award will fund the expansion of Netafim’s closed-loop recycling operation to collect, shred, wash, and pelletize an additional 9,612 tons per year of used irrigation tubing at the end of the material’s useful life.

Why Recycle Your Used Irrigation Tubing?

IT'S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MINIMIZE IMPACT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

"Today’s farmer is under increased pressure to minimize the environmental impact of farming and enhance their supply chain sustainability,” said Mike Hemman, President and CEO of Netafim USA. “As the industry leader, it is our responsibility to extend our focus beyond innovative drip irrigation technologies to also include developing and implementing processes for minimizing the impact that plastic waste has on the environment.”

  • Taking used irrigation tubing/hose/tape to a landfill is costly
  • Burning and burying used irrigation tubing/hose/tape on your property has legal and environmental ramifications
  • Leaving used irrigation tubing/hose/tape above ground is unsightly and can create a safety hazard
  • Netafim ReGen™ Recycling will make arrangements and pick up your used irrigation tubing/hose/tape

How It Works?

The agricultural industry uses a lot of plastic, but we can lessen the impact of those plastics by taking old drip lines that have reached the end of their service life and turning them into new drip line products that are ready to perform. Instead of shipping overseas for agricultural recycling services, we can do it right here in California and keep our environmental impact that much lower while simultaneously supporting Californians.

We start by taking old tubing or tape and cleaning it in preparation for the recycling process. Once any debris has been removed, we recycle the plastics to be used in new drip lines. This creates a closed circuit for farmers who rely on our products to help them achieve more sustainable returns and lower their environmental impact on the planet.

In an era where more manufacturers are producing single-use drip tape recycling isn't usually an option. But this closed-circuit approach means that our farmers have the means to dispose of their used drip lines efficiently and continue to practice sustainable farming.

"We've utilized hundreds of thousands of tons of regenerated plastic in our manufacturing process, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy."

Mike Hemman, President & CEO
